Planning - Using an online mood board

Designers and others use mood boards to develop their design concepts and to communicate to other members of the design team. The mood board may be used as a frame of reference during the design process in a variety of abstract disciplines.

Now that's all very interesting, but here's the fun bit. I have just found a really good site to help create your own wedding mood board to plan your wedding on line. Its free so here's the web link Brides Canvas

I used it to create a quick mood board based around the theme of "Fire and Ice". It took about 20 min.

What can you do with it once you have made it?
Well, you can print it, share it on sites or emails, and if you publish it, you are entered into a weekly, quarterly and yearly draw, although it is not clear what the prize is, if any. You can also receive feed back on your design from others to help improve and develop your design. You can give copies of your colour scheme to your wedding planner, bridesmaids and groom so they understand what you are looking for. After all a picture tells a thousand words and you probably have enough to do without trying to explain to every person involved what you want.

What are the pros and cons?

Pros - you can:
  • use a template or design your own
  • upload your own photos or select from theirs
  • search for a key word and find images to suit your colours of theme
  • test colours and ideas
  • add music
  • include information next to your individual pictures
  • Cons
  • Aligning photos can be a bit fiddly
  • You could lose hours as its a bit addictive
  • Why not give it a go if you have a design project, like decorating a new room or a wedding/event to plan. I am sure there are other Mood board planners out there, but this is the first one I have tried and I think the pros definitely outweigh the cons.

    Happy mooding everyone!!!
